Privacy policy

Last Tube is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code in the app. It has no backend of its own. The one external service it talks to is Transport for London's open-data API, to look up train times — what that involves for your location is set out below.

Location

If you allow location access ("while using the app" only), your position is used for exactly one thing: as the starting point of the journey the app plans for you. It is requested only while the app is open, and it is sent to exactly one place — TfL's Journey Planner API (api.tfl.gov.uk) — so TfL can compute your route. TfL's handling of requests to its API is covered by TfL's own privacy policy.

The app never uses your location in the background, never tracks your movements, and works without location entirely — you can pick your stations by name instead.

What stays on your device

Your settings and plans — home station, routes, time buffers, a selected train, and the last location fix used to plan — are stored only on your device. Last Tube uploads none of it; depending on your device's backup settings, they may be included in your iCloud or computer backups, which are under your control. Cached TfL responses are stored on-device too.

Notifications

"Time to leave" alerts are local notifications, scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. The app does not use push notifications and has no server to send them.

Data sharing and sale

The only data Last Tube sends off your device is your location, and only if you allow it — sent to TfL to plan your route, as described above. We run no servers of our own, keep no copy of it, and build no profile of you, so there is nothing for us to share or sell, and nothing is ever used for advertising. That is exactly what the app's App Store privacy label declares: location, used for app functionality only, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking.
